Product Review Sprintech & Citytech By Mike Matthews Sprintech and Citytech mirrors are Retro bike products that fit a wide range of bicycles. The mirrors are well made and once fitted to the bike are very stylish and practical. On a recent cycle tour of Holland I was asked several times about the two mirrors fitted to my Dawes touring bike. The Sprintech mirrors fit at the ends of drop handlebars. The mirrors come as a kit with a new rubber bung to replace your old handlebar end cap. This bung is a very tight fit into your handlebars and I found a small amount of Vaseline smeared around the rubber eased it into place. Once fitted a plastic knob on the end of the mirror is pushed into this bung. The mirrors come as a matching pair, one fitting to each end of the handlebars. On the Sprintech versions the mirror is angled down from the end of the handle bars and gives you a clear view of what is behind you. It is very easy to alter the view of the mirror by gently easing the mirror position with you fingers as you ride. I found it very easy to adjust the angle of the mirrors to give me a view around the outside of panniers fitted to my bike and this was ideal on the cycle routes around Holland. A quick glance down was all that was needed to check what was behind you. The Citytech versions of the mirrors fit to the ends of straight handle bars and angle upwards. They are very easy to fit, though you may have to adjust the length of your handlebar grips. Again the mirrors come as matching pairs for the right and left end of the handlebars. Once fitted and angled correctly they give a clear view of what is behind you. |
